Join the Homecare1st Team

At Homecare1st, we take pride in delivering personalised, compassionate care that truly puts people first. As we expand from our strong Hampshire roots into Yorkshire, we’re looking for dedicated, kind-hearted individuals to join our growing team.

Whether you’re based in Wakefield, Leeds, Doncaster, Barnsley, or Hampshire, if you’re passionate about making a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re guided by strong values, and we live them every day. Regardless of your background or experience, you’ll be welcomed, supported, and equipped to thrive.

If you’re new to care, don’t worry, we provide full training and the opportunity to achieve the Care Certificate, an industry-recognised qualification. From day one, you’ll receive paid training and hands-on experience alongside experienced professionals. After 12 weeks, you’ll be supported and assessed by our supervisory team to ensure you feel confident, capable, and ready.

At Homecare1st, this isn’t just a job, it’s a career with purpose, support, and real opportunities to grow.

Frequently Asked Questions

We work around your availability. You’ll tell us the days and times you can work, and we’ll match you with shifts that suit your schedule. Our hours include a mixture of domiciliary care visits and support work.

Yes. We aim to provide work that fits your routine and keeps your caseload consistent. Wherever possible, you’ll visit the same service users to build familiarity and continuity.

Not at all. Whether you’re new to care or an experienced professional, we provide full training. You’ll have access to the Care Certificate syllabus and optional diplomas, allowing you to progress and develop your skills while gaining hands-on experience.

Not necessarily. Some roles involve driving, but we also have plenty of opportunities for those without a licence. We ensure all applicants have a chance to work, whether driving is required or not.

All applicants need to complete an enhanced DBS check, an adult first check, and provide two satisfactory references. Homecare1st covers the cost of your initial DBS.

Yes. All new starters complete our eLearning modules (18–19, depending on experience) and three mandatory classroom sessions. Training is scheduled flexibly around your availability to make it manageable.

No. All training is fully funded by Homecare1st. You’ll gain the skills and qualifications you need at no cost to you.

We welcome applicants aged 16 and above. Young workers aged 16–18 have some additional regulations, but full-time work is still available.

You can choose weekly or monthly pay, whichever works best for you.

You’ll be ready to start once you are fully compliant. This typically takes around two weeks, depending on how quickly you complete your eLearning, classroom training, references, DBS, and paperwork.

Pay varies by region. But we always aim to beat minimum wage, with opportunities for enhancements such as mileage or additional visit payments.

By completing the mandatory training, you will be eligible to be paid. We will discuss this during your interview.

We believe in supporting our team. Benefits include:

  • Fully funded diplomas (Level 2–4)
  • Flexible working hours
  • Employee discount schemes
  • Mental and physical well-being support
  • Staff rewards and recognition schemes

Additional benefits may vary by region, we’ll go through everything in your interview.

Care shifts typically run between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm, but this depends on service users’ needs. We match shifts to your availability wherever possible.
